A few weeks back I was invited to a French music festival (El Festival) held in Barcelona by the lovely Fabienne of Artevistas Gallery a contemporary art gallery in the heart of the city.
The reason for my invite wasn’t to sample the delights of the French music scene, the less said about that the better, or drink all the free beer on offer but to get some shots of some local artists who were doing some live painting at the event.
The artists involved are all currently exhibiting at Artevistas gallery so this was a good opportunity for them to show off their work in a slightly different setting in amongst the revellers. There was certainly a lot of positive interest in the pieces whilst I was there which was really nice to see.
There’s always such great camaraderie at these events, artists giving each other little pointers and bringing each other beers. All of them have worked together on the streets or hung out at shows and I really like the togetherness of the vast majority of the scene here in Barcelona.
As you will see below, the artists painted on a kind of tarpaulin like material which meant a few different materials were required to get the right colours and tones. Most of the artists were switching between spray (sponsored by Amsterdam Acrylics) and the Posca/molotow style pens to get their pieces just right.
Unfortunately due to prior plans I wasn’t able to stick around for the full duration of the show and see the final pieces but I’m sharing some in process shots below so you can get a feel for the event and the work on show.
