Street art Lisbon #16

This is another of those walls that I wasn’t looking for and didn’t know existed but fortunately managed to find whilst strolling around Lisbon on a grey Sunday afternoon looking for a place to stop for something to drink.

I love these types of finds, totally unexpected with no pressure to be going to a specific spot whereby you ignore everything around you and focus solely on Google maps.

This giant mural, partially obscured by a grated fence is by urban fine artist Nelson Jesus aka The drawing jesus. Checking the artists website and social media pages he doesn’t do too many murals like this preferring more gallery focused work but when he does get himself on the wall the results are fantastic.

Drawing Jesus in Lisbon

A bit like parked cars the fence is a bit of an annoyance to get a clean shot of the wall but hey that’s the life of a street art photographer! This mural is located on the gable end of an apartment block and is of a face but minus the outline, focussing solely on the characters eyes and nose. The eyes both differ in colour and both actually seem to have bruises at differing stages surrounding them. I’m not 100% sure if the artist was aiming to leave a specific message with the piece but either way it’s a very interesting and eye catching mural.
