Street art Lisbon #2

Lisbon was a real education in street art for me, I came across the works of so many artists who I had never heard of before.

For example this was my first time coming across the works of Adres and as he doesn’t appear to be overly interested in social media he maybe doesn’t get the coverage his work deserves.

Titled ‘Carnation Revolution’ the piece shows an army gunner firing carnations into the sky from his rocket launcher. It is a commemorative piece to celebrate the peaceful coup that led to democracy in Portugal in the mid seventies. The revolutionaries marched through Lisbon carrying red carnations instead of guns.

I have read somewhere else that whilst spraying the piece, Adres fell foul of the local police, irony if ever there was.
